What's proposed: in June 2024 the government announced plans to raise the foreign condo quota from 49% to 75% and allow 99-year leases. The Cabinet later approved the quota idea for further study, and a 99-year lease bill went to public consultation in July 2025.
Current status: as of October 2026, no bill to change the quota has been tabled and the lease bill has not been passed. The 49% quota and the 30-year lease limit still apply.
What to do: don't buy on the expectation of either change. We'll update this page if a bill reaches Parliament.
